Raoul Grünthal new Chair of the Tinius Trust

Raoul Grünthal has been elected as the new Chair of the Tinius Trust, effective 17 June. "I really look forward to leading this board in an incredibly exciting time," he says.
The board of the Tinius Trust has appointed Raoul Grünthal as new Chair, succeeding Ole Jacob Sunde, who steps down due to the age limit at the annual board meeting on 17 June 2026. Raoul Grünthal is a long-standing media executive with a background from Schibsted, among others. He is currently Chair of the Danish JP/Politiken Media Group, until the Annual General Meeting in the spring of 2027.
"Well-managed media ownership is more important now than ever before. That gives me strong motivation to take on this important role, and to work for the important purpose the Tinius Trust represents. Free and independent journalism, freedom of expression and democracy are values that must be held high and defended in our time”, says Raoul Grünthal.
"We have had good discussions in the board, and we are fully confident that Raoul is the right person to take over as Chair," says outgoing Chair Ole Jacob Sunde.
"I know Raoul from my time as Chair of Schibsted. He has respect and understanding for the editorial teams' work and sound judgement in strategic decisions. He led Schibsted's transition to digital platforms and understands that our media are in the midst of a new technological challenge that requires long-term thinking. That aligns well with the Trust's purpose of securing free and independent journalism while ensuring financial sustainability," he continues.
