Tinius Nagell-Erichsen
Tinius Nagell-Erichsen (Einar Fredrik Åke Nagell Erichsen) was the great-great-grandchild of Christian Michael Schibsted, - the founder of the Schibsted Media Group. Tinius was born in 1934 - and passed away in 2007 - at the age of 73.
After working as a Journalist in Aftenposten for a few years, he became General manager of Verdens Gang (VG) from 1968 to 1973, - and CEO of Aftenposten from 1970 to 1973.
He was a member of the Boards of both Aftenposten and VG several times. During the period1972 to 1983 he served several times as the President of the Norwegian Newspapers Employer Association.
Tinius Nagell-Erichsen graduated from London School of Economics, and spent his working career in the Schibsted Media Group and its newspapers.
When the Schibsted Media Group was listed in 1992, Tinius Naggell-Erichsen was the largest shareholder, - and became the first Chairmsan of the Board of the listed company. he held the position as Chairman for ten years untill 2002. At the time of his death, he served as the vice chairman of Schibsted ASA.
When the Schibsted Group was transformed from a private family owned company to the listed public company Schibsted ASA, the shareholding of 26,1 % of the company that Tinius Nagell-Erichsen owned was granted privileges in the Articles of Association that normally is held by shareholdings controlling more than 33,33 %.
The Tinius Trust.
In 1996 Tinius founded the Tinius Trust. The intention was to ensure the continued control his shareholding had over Schibsted ASA, after his death - or when he might decide. His reasoning was to ensure that this would safeguard Schibsted as a media group, based on free and independent editorial departments, trustworthiness and quality - and a long term sustainable healthy economic development.
Nagell-Erichsen decided to transfer his control of his shareholdings in Schibsted to the Tinius Trust in May 2006. He was the chairman of the Trust intill his death in 2007. His holdings are now governed by the Tinius Trust' Articles of Association - by the Board of Directors of the Trust, - board members that he personally appointed.
